You CAN make a difference! Most of our volunteer opportunities take place during the school year. Volunteers may provide a number of services such as helping youth work on their homework, participating in recreational activities with youth (such as arts & crafts, computer lab, board/ card games, etc...).

We are always seeking ways to support our program and if you feel you have something to offer, please contact the Safe Haven. No donation is too small to make a difference!!!

Our primary funder is the
Milton S. Eisenhower Foundation
of Washington, D.C.

Additional Funders:

Strafford County Human Services - Incentive Funds (06-07)
New Hampshire Charitable Foundation (06-07)

Services and Products:
Many times during the year we are looking for ways to broaden our youths' horizons and improve their basic living skills as well as reward them for a job well done. The ways we do this are with special classes, events and the Safe Haven Store!

  • Special Classes: In the past volunteers have offered our youth special classes on Making Proud Choices [Sexual Awareness & Safe Practices], Oral Hygiene, Physical Fitness, and others. If you or your organization has services available that you think would benefit our youth, please contact us!
  • Events: Every month our youth earn the privilege of attending a field trip. We are always looking for new ideas and discounted/free opportunities that the youth will enjoy. We also offer "Cultural Events" that the youth may attend from time to time. Please contact us if you have any ideas or opportunities for the youth to enjoy.
  • Safe Haven Store: At the end of the school year and again at the end of the summer, the Safe Haven opens a store filled with seasonal things the children might enjoy having. The youth "pay" for these items with the "Safe Haven Money" they have earned doing their homework or participating in Summer Cleanups. Items have included: boogie boards, beach towels, skateboards, baseballs, tennisballs, kickballs, board games, backpacks, assorted toys, sunglasses, etc... Before we open a store we draft a wish list and distribute it to anyone and everyone who may be available to donate some items to the store.
Please view the wish list for the next store. It is never to early to begin collecting these items.
